West Indies vs India, 3rd ODI Highlights: How India took an 2-0 unassailable lead

first_imgWest Indies vs India, 3rd ODI: India, batting first, will be looking to post a big total against West Indies. (LIVE SCORECARD)India’s spinners were brilliant, Ashwin and Kuldeep complimented eachother wonderfully. They picked up three wickets apiece and choked thebatsmen with their guile. Pandya too was effective, chipping in with two wickets at key moments for the visitors. Overall, a thumping win forthe Indians. Earlier in the day, contrasting fifties from Dhoni andRahane coupled with a cameo from Jadhav pushed India to a par score.Eventually, it proved way too many for West IndiesA clinical performance by the Indians to go 2-0 up in the series. Thetarget of 252 was going to be dicey on this two-paced surface but thehosts just didn’t show any fight at all. Jason Mohammed and RovmanPowell were the only man to spend time in the middle, their 54-run stand keeping the Indian bowlers at bay for some time. However, once thestand was broken, the rest of the innings caved in with the last fivewickets falling for just 17 runs.WEST INDIES INNINGS:02.07 IST: Kuldeep to Willams OUT!  Kedar strikes in his very first ball! Fires it around off, Williamstries to defend it. Fails to get bat to it and finds his stumpsdisturbed. Kedar Jadhav takes the last wicket and INDIA WIN BY 93 RUNS!02.04 IST: Ashwin to Cummins. OUT! 150th wicket for Ashwin West Indies 158/9 in 38 overs01.59 IST: Kuldeep to Mohammad OUT! Has to depart for well-earned 40.  Fuller in line of the stumps, Jason Mohammed goes for the sweep. Jason Mohammed is quick to opt for the review. Replays show that there was no bat involved. Ball Tracker shows that the ball was pitched in line, impact was in line and it was going onto hit the stumps. Which means three reds and Mohammed has to walk back to the hut. Kuldeep gets his third. Jason Mohammed is the key. West Indies 154/7 in 36 overs01.49 IST: Drinks break. West Indies’ chase has been derailed in a big way. The Powell-Mohammed stand was looking promising but now the odds are stacked heavily against the hosts.01.48 IST: Ashwin to Nurse. OUT!  Superb stuff from the fast bowler and Nurse has to go. Floated generously around middle, Nurse looks to whip it away but gets it off the inside half uppishly towards square leg where Umesh takes a fine diving catch to his left. West Indies are losing the plot now, Mohammed is being left stranded by his mates. A sensible partnership is all they need but that’s not coming. 104 needed from 96 now. West Indies 148/7 in 34 overs01.47: Ashwin to Nurse. FOUR!  Nurse will play his shots. This is tossed up nicely outside off, he gets under it well and lifts it well over the mid off fielder. West Indies 141/6 in 33 overs01.42 IST: Kuldeep to Powell OUT!  Powell was never comfortable against the spinners, the chinaman in particular. You cannot budge around the crease when Dhoni is behind the sticks. He’s too quick and Holder has to go. This was turning down the leg side, the WI captain overbalances as he tries to flick and fails to connect. Dhoni collects the ball and whips off the bails in a flash. MS Dhoni 78*, Ajinkya Rahane 72, Miguel Cummins 2/56.A fairly good batting performance by India after being put into bat. It wasn’t an ideal start for them with Dhawan and Kohli falling cheaply but Rahane hung in to register yet another fifty. It was a two-paced surface with uneven bounce and he anchored the innings along with Yuvraj who failed to convert a start. Once the southpaw departed, Dhoni stepped in and produced a well-paced unbeaten fifty to get India past the 250-run mark. Jadhav played a beautiful cameo as well as India racked up 100 runs off the last 10 overs.Dhoni and Jadhav lift India to 251/4 in the 3rd #WIvIND ODI. They were good and probing with the new ball, utilizing the fresh conditions beautifully but faltered big time in the slog overs. The spinners, Nurse and Bishoo were very tidy and kept the run flow in check. Overall, the target is definitely on par considering the surface but not impossible to get. The new ball will be vital to the chase. A bit aerial but cleared the infield easily.22.41 IST: Miguel Cummins finishes off his quota of 10 overs. India 237/4 in 49 overs22.37 IST: Cummins to Jadhav. FOUR! Jadhav was on one knee even before the delivery was bowled but Holder wasn’t clever enough to change his length. It’s a good length ball wider outside off and Kedar lofts it easily over square leg to find the fence. This is an excellent phase for India in the slog overs. Slowly, they are getting to a score that could be very hard to get on this track.22.36 IST: This is the third time India has had fifty run partnerships for the third, fourth and fifth wickets. 22.32 IST: Williams to Jadhav. A solid knock from Rahane ends as he tries to up the ante.22.06 IST: Good fielding by Bishoo, saves a couple of runs for his team.22.04 IST: India will want to reach a good total that their bowling line-up can defend. India 167/3 in 42 overs.21.59 IST: 10 runs off that over. With the onset of the last 10 overs, India have started to attack. India 160/3 in 41 overs.21.58 IST: Bishoo to Dhoni, FOUR!  SMACKED! That’s struck with brute force. Very full and outside off, Dhoni launches it over the bowler’s head. Struck it really hard and the man at long off had no chance of cutting it off.21.53 IST: Bishoo to Dhoni, DROPPED! Dhoni escapes again. Steps out to play a booming drive but the length isn’t quite there. Slices it to short third man where Kyle Hope dives across to get his hands on it but doesn’t hold on to it. He’ll be disappointed, especially after the blinder he took to remove Kohli. India 149/3 in 39 overs.21.50 IST: Bishoo to Dhoni, MISSED! Dhoni hits it in the air and the ball falls at no man’s land. Shortish around off stump, Kohli is completely deceived by the extra bounce. Tries to fend at it but the ball lobs up off the splice of the blade. Excitement among the Windies players but unfortunately for them, the ball just flies over the gully fielder. Holder is livid. Single taken meanwhile. India 29/1 in 8 overs.19.45 IST: Good over for West Indies, just one run off it. India 27/1 in 7 overs.19.40 IST: Holder to Kohli, FOUR! Loose ball and punished. DHAWAN DEPARTS! He’ll be bitterly disappointed with this dismissal. Short delivery that cramps him for room, he opts for the ramp over third man.
