Asus ZenFone AR with Snapdragon 821, 8GB RAM will be available by mid-June, says CEO Jerry Shen

first_imgEarlier this month, Google at its I/O developer conference confirmed that Asus ZenFone AR will be coming in the coming months. Now, Asus CEO Jerry Shen in an interview with Engadget reveals that Asus ZenFone AR will be announced in Taiwan in mid-June. He further adds that the Daydream-ready ZenFone AR will enter the US market by the end of June or may be early July. This was first reported by Engadget. India Today Tech last week confirmed in its exclusive report that Asus ZenFone AR will come to India in the coming two months.Asus ZenFone AR coming to India is confirmed by Dinesh Sharma, Director and Mobile Product Centre of ASUS India said while speaking exclusively with India Today Tech. He further says, “We’re going to be shortly launching the ZenFone 3 Zoom and the ZenFone AR in India. A fair time frame would be within two months.”That being said, alongside the Asus ZenFone AR, the company is also going to launch the dual-camera toting ZenFone 3 Zoom. However, Asus may not launch the ZenFone 3 Zoom and ZenFone AR together in one go though and could announce it one at a time. “These products are ready so they could come one after the other. Which one comes first and which comes second, is something I cannot precisely confirm as of this moment,” Sharma adds.The Director and Mobile Product Centre of ASUS India did reveal any further details. If the rumours are to be believed, ZenFone AR will sport a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD with 1440×2560 pixels resolution. Further, it is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC and will be coupled with 8GB of RAM. On the optics set up, Asus ZenFone AR will be equipped with a 23-megapixel Sony IMX318 module and will be further coupled with features like — TriTech+ autofocus system, dual-PDAF, second-gen Laser Focus, and continuous-focus.advertisementFurthermore, the back camera also supports 4-axis OIS (optical image stabilisation), 3-axis EIS (electronic image stabilisation) for video recording and is also capable of recording 4K video. On the front, the device includes an 8-megapixel selfie shooter which comes packed with an f/2.0 aperture and an 85-degree wide angle lens as well. Storage wise, the upcoming Asus ZenFone AR is expected to come with 256GB of internal storage and a 3300mAh battery.Further the upcoming ZenFone 3 Zoom is going to be the successor of last year’s ZenFone Zoom.
