Warri Wolves confirm West Ham bid for Nigeria star

first_img Nigeria international Azubuike Egwuekwe Warri Wolves have confirmed that West Ham have made a bid to sign Nigeria international Azubuike Egwuekwe.Sam Allardyce is looking to strengthen his backline as uncertainty continues to surround the future of Winston Reid who has yet to agree a new contract with the east London club.The West Ham manager has already signed Canada international Doneil Henry and could be set to sign another defender before the end of January.Egwuekwe, 25, is rated one of the best defenders in Africa and would relish the chance to showcase his talents in the Premier League.Warri Wolves CEO Davidson Owumi, speaking on Nigerian website SL10.ng, said: ”We don’t like revealing contractual information until we have concluded negotiations.“It may affect the player’s career. Warri Wolves are a professional club.”West Ham are interested and there was a bid from them. When talks are concluded, we will inform the public.”There is division of labour at Warri Wolves.
