Syracuse drops 3-1 decision to No. 2 North Carolina

first_img Published on September 24, 2015 at 10:00 pm Contact Matt: [email protected] Facebook Twitter Google+ Syracuse dropped it’s second consecutive game to open Atlantic Coast Conference play on Thursday night, losing to No. 2 North Carolina 3-1 at Fetzer Field.It was the first time in Syracuse (4-6-1, 0-2 ACC) team history that the Orange faced the No. 2 team in the nation directly after playing the No. 1 team. Syracuse lost to No. 1 Virginia on Sunday.Syracuse couldn’t match the offensive firepower of the Tar Heels and were outshot 23-5. Twenty-four minutes into the game Alexa Newfield gave North Carolina a 1-0 lead and just over five minutes later Dorian Bailey pushed the lead to 2-0.Sheridan Street scored on a long shot from the left side of the field in the 54th minute to cut the deficit to one.
