Keisha Reifer-Esprit, who resides in New York, is the only Dominican author, who will be featured at a book signing for Barbadian nationals in New York on 28th July, 2012.Esprit is an avid writer, sports personality, fashion print and runway model, the daughter of the former George Esprit. She is an International Society of Poets Honorary and Editor’s Choice Award poet and a former track and field athlete who has qualified and medaled at major events such as Inter-School Sports, CARIFTA, CAC Games, and NACAC games. She broke and set records in track events along with relay teams, is an NAIA All- American sprinter, NCAA Division 1 MEAC and regional competitor. Esprit studied at the Wayland Baptist University in Texas where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and continued her education at South Carolina State University, earning a Master of Science degree in Transportation.Esprit also does occasional acting for film and movies, mainly extra/background work. She is the author of Esprit Poetry, Les Fleurs: Esprit Poetry Part II and Esprit Love: The Spirit of Love: A Woman’s Perspective on Love Versus a Man’s. She has also written children’s books and a novel set to be released in the near future. She has participated in several educational activities with the USA’s Department of Education, guest speaking, motivational work and book signings at major bookstores and schools throughout the USA. At every opportunity, Esprit promotes Dominica, the Nature Isle of the Caribbean and will do so at the semi-open book signing which she has been invited to attend at the Barbados Consulate General’s Residency in New York.The semi-open book signing will be for ten authors whose books will be featured in the media; magazines, newspapers, etc within the USA and the Caribbean. The main purpose of the event is to expose and feature talent among Barbadian authors and will focus on education, literacy and authors that add positive vibes to the literary world.
