first_imgOver the next two weeks, RewardStream will be bringing you our definitive list of the most interesting marketing and technology trends in 2014.Unfortunately, we couldn’t think of anything witty or seasonal to title the series so we present you with:The Top 10 Marketing & Tech Trends That Tickled Our Fancy In 2014!We are going to start our series by taking a look at some of the visual marketing trends we saw in 2014. Visual marketing boomed in 2014 which is not surprising as humans are visual creatures that respond well to visual stimuli especially now that so many of us are time-poor but overloaded with content in the digital age.10. The Growth of InfographicsThe use of infographics in marketing grew by 51% in 2014. That’s huge! The doubling up is not really surprising considering that infographics are powerful marketing tools that tap into two things our brains really like: something which is visually pleasing and easy to comprehend.A highly effective infographic will allow a marketer to tell a story without burdening the mind and eye with detail. Instead, lots of information can be conveyed in a more casual style. The trick to creating a great infographic is to use a minimalistic color scheme; subtle fonts and typography and limited but simplistic imagery. If you need an example you can check out RewardStream’s recent referral marketing infographic here. continue reading » 6SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblrlast_img read more

Google Rebuilds the Tower of Babel with Real-Time Language Translation

first_imgA Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… Related Posts Tags:#Google#news#NYT#web If our attempts at getting such simple information as bus schedules or account balances from automated voice recognition systems are any indication, then we imagine Google has a lot of work to do in its latest endeavor – real-time, spoken-language translation.According to the the Times in the UK, Google is working on developing software for a mobile phone that would translate what you were saying into the language of the speaker on the other end of the line, and vice versa. As you may have noticed, Google already has a hand in the translation business, with its Web page translation service. Google Translate currently translates between 52 languages, which includes a number of languages with completely different alphabets. The Times spoke with Franz Och, head of Google’s translation services, who said that this new service should be up and running and would “work reasonably well in a few years’ time.”“Everyone has a different voice, accent and pitch,” said Och. “But recognition should be effective with mobile phones because by nature they are personal to you.”Och is referring to the fact that the software would have the opportunity to learn your accent, dialect and general manner of speaking over time, becoming more accurate. But we can only imagine the difficulty of the task ahead, especially with languages such as Mandarin or Cantonese, which are tonally based. In Mandarin, for example, the word “ma” can have four different meanings according to the tone used. If the speaker uses the first tone, a constant high pitch, then the word means “mother”. If they use the third tone, a dropping then rising pitch, however, the meaning changes to “horse”.The fun doesn’t stop there, the Times article points out, as handling the vast number of accents and dialects is also an immense task. Much like the Web-based translation that Google does, though, the system would become more accurate over time, essentially learning from its experience. We hope that one of the first things it learns is not to call our new Chinese friend’s mother a horse.center_img 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting mike melansonlast_img read more

Balakrishnan. In a letter to the Revenue Secretary, the Home Ministry asked him to institute an inquiry through the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the investigative wing of the department. The Home Ministry missive came after it received a petition alleging that Balakrishnan, currently chairperson of National Human Rights Commission, had acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and some of these properties were purchased in the name of his close relatives.”The petition with allegations has been sent to Secretary Revenue department for inquiry,” official sources said. When contacted, Balakrishnan refused to comment, saying that he had already cleared the air about his assets. The petition listed the income and properties of Balakrishnan and his relatives and also attached documents showing purchase of some of the properties and has demanded investigations by the CBDT.”Since the CBDT has the expertise to probe into anyone’s income and disproportionate assets, the task has been given to it,” the sources said.If the allegations against Balakrishnan are found to be true, the Home Ministry may move to President of India seeking sanction to prosecute him and also remove him from the post of NHRC.With inputs from PTIFor more News, click here. For more news on India, click here. For more news on Business, click here. For more news on Movies, click here. For more news on Sports, click here.advertisementlast_img read more

Tite dismisses Brazil as favourites for World Cup

first_imgBrazil manager Tite has dismissed suggestions that his side are now the big favourites to win the World Cup following Germany’s shock group exit on WednesdayThe Verde-Amarela secured a 2-0 win against Serbia in their Group E finale to take the top spot with goals from Paulinho and captain Thiago Silva setting up a Round of 16 tie against Group F runners-up Mexico on Monday. After the favourites Germany were handed a shock 2-0 defeat to South Korea that saw them being eliminated from the tournament, Brazil are now being widely considered as the new favourites to lift the World Cup for a record sixth time. But Tite is choosing to stick to “reality”.“We don’t live in expectations, we live in reality,” said the 57-year-old, according to ESPN.“Because we did so well during the qualifiers and friendlies we created an excessively high sense of expectation, but the World Cup is a new cycle, a new format.“We are a team who withstand pressure, who have high-quality substitutes. We look at getting stronger and improving.”Neymar, BrazilNeymar can win the Ballon d’Or, says Ander Herrera Andrew Smyth – September 13, 2019 An “excited” Ander Herrera believes new Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Neymar is a contender for the Ballon d’Or alongside Kylian Mbappe. After a surprise draw with Switzerland in their opening game, Brazil overcame a tense end to the group stages to grab top spot in Group E and progress to the last 16 for the 13th consecutive time. And Tite will allow himself a drink to celebrate.“I’m still going to have a caipirinha tonight, I’ll allow myself!” he said.“The World Cup is made up of human relationships, you have to feel how the dressing room is established, how the players interact, the responsibility the joy, the pride, you try to balance things out.“If you’re hyper you try to slow it down if you’re a bit low you try to hype it up. In terms of the emotion of the team, there is still more to grow. Comparatively speaking, they have grown in those three matches. From here, it is only up.”Despite a shaky start to the tournament, Brazil have now won 19 of their 24 matches under Tite with the ex-Corinthians boss boasting a winning percentage of 79%.last_img read more

Gerrard insists Rangers have nothing to fear from Celtic

first_imgRangers Football Club manager Steven Gerrard insists his side can take encouragement from their defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic. The former Liverpool captain insists he saw nothing from Brendan Rodgers men that would have him fearing future encounters between both sides.“The first half showed that we didn’t have enough courage and belief to go and play when we won the ball back,” Gerrard said, according to the Scotland Herald.“After halftime that’s closer to the gauge, I want to see. I thought we expressed ourselves, made it more of a contest. [It was] more of a match in the second half. And the players came away disappointed that they didn’t show the real Rangers in the first 45.”Steven Gerrard, Michael OwenOwen reveals why Liverpool didn’t offer Gerrard a new contract Manuel R. Medina – September 6, 2019 According to Owen, the Reds wanted to sell Gerrard two years before he left the club and that’s why they didn’t offer him a contract renewal.“But if that’s Celtic at their best – and excellent, as Brendan (Rodgers) said – then it’s encouraging for us moving forward. We don’t play them again in the league until just after Christmas which is a long time away. That allows us to grow and keep improving.”“We might face them in a cup competition. We’ll have to wait and see. They are a good team, they’ve wiped the floor in the last couple of seasons in terms of trophies and prizes and I know all about the coach, he’s a top coach.”“I’m not sitting here disrespecting Celtic one iota. They’ve just beaten us, they deserve the credit for that. But I think second half I saw a Rangers team that was ready to mix it with them, that showed a better account of themselves.”“Was the result fair? Yes. [But] if we do show the full Rangers in the 90 minutes next time, then we do have a chance of getting a result that we want.”last_img read more

Now we have other players that won’t make us regret his departure”.Although Milan made sure they signed up a replacement in Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa for a €35m fee.The 23-year-old has embarked on a stunning start at Milan with three goals in as many games.Romelu Lukaku, Inter MilanLukaku backed to beat Ronaldo in Serie A scoring charts Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Former Inter Milan star Andy van der Meyde is confident Romelu Lukaku will outscore Cristiano Ronaldo in this season’s Serie A.“We enjoy having him [Piatek] here and we hope he can keep scoring at least one goal per game,” said Romagnoli.“We hope to win many more games so we can reach the Champions League.“Piatek’s impressed me with his desire and hunger. You can see he wants to show what he’s all about and that’s important. He’s young and on the right path.”Next up for Gennaro Gattuso’s side will a home game against Cagliari, where three points is a must if they are to remain in the top-four of the Serie A and qualify for Champions League football next season. But Romagnoli is refusing to get too carried away at this stage of the campaign.“There are still many games left and we have plenty of things to improve.
